Today is the release day for my novel, Lloyd McNeil’s Last Ride. Albert Pujols wants you to buy it, and you should want to make Albert Pujols happy.
If you are a regular reader of this newsletter, this book is for you. I think it is for a lot of people, but it is definitely for you. I took special effort to make this book as entertaining and exciting as possible; as I joked on Morning Joe yesterday, this is meant to be the funniest, most uplifting, most propulsive book about a man dying of a brain tumor as humanly possible. If you read books regularly, you will fly through this one. And if you don’t read regularly read books anymore—but remember the joy of when you once did—I think this might be a book that gets you back in. I really do believe people are going to like it.
I’ve had many reach out and ask, “How I can help out the book? What can I do?” I have a helpful guide:
Buy it. Wherever you buy your books. Your local bookstore is of course ideal, but whatever is convenient for you; I often find it strange when authors try to shame people from buying their books on Amazon while, of course, shopping on Amazon all the time. I’m so happy anyone wants to buy a book at all that, you know, you do what works for you.
Give it a review. Goodreads is perfect. You don’t have to write a full review, but it wouldn’t hurt. It is actually even more valuable to write one on Amazon, actually.
Give it as a Father’s Day gift. I think it would be an excellent one.
Encourage your local bookstore to stock it. They probably already have it—I’ve seen several in the wild already—but it’s always good to keep it front of mind.
Post on social media about it. If that’s your thing. It’s OK if it’s not. (It’s not really mine either. But it does not hurt.)
I am very proud of this book and am joyous it is out in the world.
Some final resources for you:
Here I am talking about it on “Morning Joe” yesterday.
And here I am talking about it with Grierson on the “Grierson & Leitch” podcast.
And here I am with my old friend Bob Costas.

Thank you for reading this newsletter all these years. This book does not exist without it. I do hope you all enjoy it.
Best,
Will
My copy arrives today. I have a upcoming business trip where I can't wait to consume it on my flights. Your latest writings about your kids and college graduations have resonated in our household, so this will be a popular read. Congratulations, and thank you for sharing your gift with all of us.
Received a text at 3am telling me the book has shipped. Going to be waiting on my front porch hoping the next vehicle is the Amazon delivery. My favorite author with my birthday present what could be better?
