It was surreal seeing how much the United States changed in the week that we were gone. Full flights on the way out, seven people on the plane on the way home. And as a long-suffering Pittsburgh Pirates' fan I can only chuckle and sadly, knowingly shake my head at the fact that even in an NL Central focused roundtable published on MLB dot com the Pirates only merit a single mention. IF the MLB was serious about competitive balance and an entertaining product (spoiler alert: they're not) they would institute NBA-style min/max salary caps and a soft Euro-style relegation system (relegated if you finish in the bottom 3 two years in a row, just an idea). The first is basically impossible and the latter will get you laughed out of every single sports bar in America. We love it, folks!
