I could be wrong, but isn't the reason Cardinal Nation is so massive, is because the KMOX signal is so strong? Six states can tune into a Cardinal game with an old-fashioned radio.

I do think that was a big part of the initial spread of fandom, yes. Aren't there stories of people in Congress all getting together to listen to games on KMOX together?

Age & moving have diminished my fandom. Life-long Mets fan moved to West Coast - when access to news & info was MORE difficult - added (more than switched) allegiances to Giants, Mariners. Many years later, when grand-children arrived - they received attention previously devoted to sports & "my" teams. When time came to return to sports - everything/everyone - even on "my" teams that I "follow" was different. So, now, still a fan, just not as intensely. Would also help if someone won something every so often.

Yeah, I have noticed how life stuff like that--you know, the good stuff--has changed my fandom. But it still hangs in there plenty well. Even as badly as the Cardinals are playing right now.

One of the best explanations of fandom that I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Bravo, good sir, bravo.

You cannot go wrong with wearing that brown and yellow. And if there's ever a time to come back, it's now.
