so I was working at my granddaughter's Elementary school, "supervising" lunch in the cafeteria & when she, sitting at table w. her 3rd grade pals, excitedly called "Papa, come over and sit with me".... So, I did. We discussed the lunch chatted for a few minutes and then she says..."you can go now" and turns to her friends as if I turned, at that moment, invisible. Get used to it.

great read for Father's Day. as my boys reach 25 and 17 (with an absolutely fabulous daughter in-between), I can really identify with your thoughts and feelings. the evolution of parenthood is harrowing and rewarding. hang in there!

Uh huh. Wake up call may come earlier or later…Quick story….son number 2 dated the same girl age 16 to 21, and she was his world - until 3 weeks ago. His mom and I were worried to death, because he just moved to suburban connecticut for a college internship and knows - nobody. Surprise! - since the break-up he’s taking to his mother like she’s a human being, and his father’s day gift to me is a hundred dollar ticket to see megan rapinoe and company play mexico july 1st in hartford….AND he convinced son #1 (age 32) to come up from DC to join us…first time the 3 of us have done something together since I can’t remember. So I preach patience….as fking hard as that can be. Cheers….
