You're spot on about friends. You have a core that will always be with you. Others come and go with kids activities, etc. My wife and I met in the Marching Illini, and we have a group of 10 of us we marched with in the 80's, ad we still have season tickets at Memorial Stadium. Of that group, 4 are our "best" friends. My late parents, also Illinois alums, said you can count your best friends on one hand. I wholeheartedly agree.
