This was beautiful. Really heartfelt and touching.
I worked at SI on the business side for 23 years. I left in 2010. I knew of Grant but did not know him. Editorial and Business were separate. This hit hard. Reading the tributes from his colleagues in sports has been amazing. He's gone too soon. I feel the loss. I'm deeply sorry for the loss of your friend.
I'm 37, and it gets more and more difficult dealing with death. I'll look at old photos and realize people I went to school with, some of their parents, teachers...gone. all of my grandparents long gone. The list gets longer, the longer we live.

Sorry for your loss Will. Mr. Wahl was THE soccer sportswriter for me.
I was wondering if you were going to write today.
Thank you for doing this.....
Will, GO Media puts out a website about sports called Deadspin. Do you consider this site illegitimate?
Thanks for sharing your relationship with Grant. I followed his writing from SI all the way to his Substack gig at Doha. The real deal in every way.
It just doesn’t seem real. How could he be gone just like that...
A beautiful tribute, Will. So sorry for your loss. All the hugs...

Absolutely beautiful and spot on about Grant….we obsessives must stay together!
Beautiful tribute.
Will, thank you for sharing your friendship with Grant. Sounds like you're both cut from the same cloth. So sad, so sorry.
So sorry for your loss, Will.
So sad.....
Sorry for your loss, Will. For all of ours'.
It's a cold and grey morning in Ohio as I read your Jaycees story and listen to Wilco. Who knew the sun shines from downstate Illinois?
Well done Will, and a fine tribute to your friend. I’m sorry for your loss.
Your latest newsletter is very moving. I'm so sorry for your loss.
