Very strong recommend for another TV nuclear war movie Threads if you haven't seen. Probably the best movie I saw last year and absolutely sticks with you months after viewing. You already did my reboot section on podcast (Goodfellas years ago!), But this would be strong one to do and would love to see your thoughts on it!
Watched Testament last night. Jesus. I think the saddest movies ever might be very well done nuclear Holocaust ones. Gave my kid a big hug this morning after that!
The scene where they are looking for the teddy bear broke me. It's amazing what they can do without showing mushroom cloud. Even the Academy noticed by giving basically a TV movie an Oscar. Threads (also a TV movie) takes a very different approach in many ways, but is equally effective. I'm starting to think nukes are bad?!
It's funny, while contemplating the possibility of UCLA winning and me winning the bracket challenge I thought about what I'd ask you to write about and this was it! Of course 27 was the magic age for rockers of my generation to die, Hendrix, Janis, Morrison, Brian Wilson, Pig Pen and Al "The Blind Owl" Wilson to name a few. Being a Vietnam vet I also had very good friends and schoolmates die before the even reached 21. Now, at 72, I have more friends and acquaintances dying with regularity. I'm thankful every day that I'm still kickin and, mostly, able to do what I want to.
Agree completely about your most recent "The Long Game" podcast. Great episode. Question for the dad of a Browns fan: How do/did you talk to your son about Deshaun Watson?
"you try not to think about it" - WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE F'...ING 68 YRS OLD !!!!!
Ha. Yeah, I don't think I'm going to be thinking about it LESS as the years go on.
one structures one's life to AVOID thinking about it as much as possible... still - there are moments....
as when one's favorite Saturday AM columnist has one of "those" weeks...

I've heard this a couple of times! I've never seen it. But yes. But TESTAMENT oh my god TESTAMENT

It's absolute murder. Just devastating. Grierson and I talked about it on the podcast last month and I damned near broke down. https://open.spotify.com/episode/3G6KMTY0C6BmuJM2sUt2Ra?si=f37de46398eb4591

Damn straight on this. Can't think of much better to be thankful for than that.
As a transplanted Jersey boy long starved for any home state college basketball success, all I can say is we are all Peacocks!
Caw-CAW! Caw-CAW! (That is a Peacock sound.)

We are ... still figuring that out. (And thanks!)
