Wow. Just wow. No wonder you advised me to stop reading it. Thank you for the history lesson as this was all before my time. I wish I could read some of the original articles you honor. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Such pain on what they did to your baby and now idiots bothering you about this.
Never even considered that you might catch some of the flack for that "Deadspin" piece. I guess it make sense though, given the current state of the internet and the American appetite for anything even tangentially related to political arguments.
(and as a fellow Dawgs fan, Saturday was quite upsetting).
A somewhat-related story: Twenty years ago this fall, I was one of the founding editors of a fun Dallas Morning News offshoot called Quick, a publication that I helped name. It lasted less than eight years, going under in the summer of 2011 (https://www.dmagazine.com/frontburner/2011/07/one-mans-appreciation-of-quick/). Years later, I noticed that its URL had been bought by a company that was selling a remedy for extreme flatulence. Thankfully, the URL is back on the market today, but I'm not willing to fork over $4,400 for the sake of nostalgia.
Deadspin will always be a great memory for me. I had a small sports blog during that time. I had some of my stories mentioned on Deadspin. I even once was invited to live blog on Deadspin during a World Cup soccer game. Thanks for creating Deadspin.

Hey Will, saw this article and thought of you (the only person I know from Mattoon!):
https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/column-mad-gasser-of-mattoon. Enjoy!
What percentage of your readership (however the hell you want to define that) do you think still knows you from Deadspin?
How Lucky is too well written to have been written by anyone other than Will Leitch.

I’m seeing Liz Phair this week! Looking forward to it.
Pretty fantastic. First time I'd seen her since 1994!
