Well, yeah, he's a long, LONG time hero down here. I have friends who said their high school sports coaches AND teachers used to play them Herschel Walker clips to get them fired up down here. I think they just wanted to go back to loving him as an athlete again. I try to be empathetic: My dad and I have discussed how distressing if, like, Ozzie Smith had run for office on a MAGA ticket. It would have been very hard. I'd want badly just to go back to loving him.
That was perplexing, but then when Will said he would vote for a Republican Attorney General because he "seemed" like a nice guy, I'm not sure what word to use, but that is bad. Until Republicans prove that they're not cult members, then they must be cult members and I don't know how you can vote for them in good conscience.
Well, to be fair, it's a non-partisan race (district attorney); I just happen to know he's a Republican. It's not like he's running on a Trump endorsement or anything. There has been a lot of dissatisfaction with the current district attorney. I think it's a reasonable vote.
Congrats on the book. Pre-ordering it now. I like how the description says Untitled but the top of the page names it as Lloyd McNeil’s Last Ride: A Novel. Is that official? I wasn’t sure you announced it yet.
I too, am a middle-aged white man who is skeptical of The National (and love War on Drugs). I did enjoy Boxer and High Violet, but I am perpetually perplexed by the adoration they receive and the tours they land and the high-profile collabs with Matt Berninger who I’m convinced has pulled off the longest running heist in music.
Did he really hit a Grand Slam last night? Because the thing I read directly before this article was a Posnaski piece talking about Judges slump that included this line
‘There’s nothing to see here. He’ll probably hit four homers tonight’
Then went on to say why this might be different
Just terrific if he does now go on a run
