Thank you for another thoughtful newsletter, and for all of your insight, wisdom, and humor shared throughout the year. I rely on your writing to help get me through these crazy times - can’t wait for the next book!
Just a note to say thanks for another great year of enjoyable reading! I had to skip a couple right after Nov 5th; I'm sure they were insightful but i remain on an politics avoidance diet.
Especially appreciate the recent Sopranos quotes and references, as it coincided with the recent re-watch we did. I get something new there every time we revisit it, its such a classic.
Best to you and your family in 2025, we look forward to the book!
I really liked your post today. Lots to think about. I’ve been having similar thoughts about what comes next for the people I love. This will be their time. I think they’ll figure it out but, I still feel awful about the mess they are inheriting. And, I was stunned to discover that it was young people who voted for Trump and helped him win. I don’t understand it but I do understand their frustration about the slow pace of progress. In their 20 second attention span lives this is all too slow.
I looked through your previous columns and read the one about your mother. That was wonderful . She is an inspiration.
Happy New Year to you and your family. Fingers crossed that the country survives the next few years.
Old man here, "ranting about how things used to be" (what happened to TV ????). But my step-daughters and grand-children "will have moments from this year that will have helped make them who they are, moments that they’ll pass along to the people in their own lives, people we don’t yet even know. And these people are the ones that matter—not me" = We can only hope... Happy New Year.
As I was scrolling through the list of posts or articles you wrote in 2024, I stopped (and maybe reread, although I don't remember) your Steve Martin movie list. My only...critique... would be moving Roxanne into the Top 10, I can always stop what I'm doing to watch it. However, I appreciate you having Bowfinger in the Top 10. Like you mentioned, it's underappreciated.
Thank you, Will, for all the newsletters. Always one of the highlights of my reading week. Happy holidays.
I concur... One of my favorites! Thanks, Will!
Same, same. Thanks Will.
Happy New Year to you and your family, Will.
Thanks, Will, for your newsletter. I always look forward to it.
Happy New Year and Go Illini!

Bowfinger is SO underappreciated. One of the great Eddie Murphy performances too.
