I think what about 49% of people don’t understand is that I’m not/ we’re not upset because “our guy” (our gal, in this case) lost. It is so much more than that. I’m not sure which makes me more upset: the “low information” voters who will listen to podcast after podcast and watch YouTube video after YouTube video about some real crime thing or whatever but couldn’t or wouldn’t make any effort to read about the 80+ felonies that Trump was indicted for (and 34 he was convicted of) or read about all of the truly heinous things he has absolutely said out loud that he will do to pretty powerless people; or, the “high information” voters who know he’s an elderly version of the bully in “A Christmas Story,” that he will certainly go down as the most blatantly corrupt and worst president ever, and are totally cool with Trump being the most powerful person on the planet. It disgusts me that at opposite ends of the 250 years we’ve been at this in the United States, we have gone from George freaking Washington at one end and Donald Trump - Donald Trump! - at the other.

My solution now is the same as it was eight years ago, and Mr. Leitch hit on it: “Worry globally. Act locally.” I just got back from a volunteer gig cooking and serving breakfast to community housing residents (and unhoused local folks) in South Boston and people have been doing that in the basement of this church for nine years now. I had a Celtics fleece on so no one could see it, but I was wearing a T-shirt with “Be A Good Person” on it, not because I am a good person but because I aspire to BE a good person. And that’s what my response to the incoming chaos will be: to try to be as good of a person as I know how to be in every personal interaction I have in my community. And make a difference one day at a time. I can’t control Trump but I control who I am and what I do. LFG. 😁

Common sense to burn this week Will. I only wish half this country didn't react to common sense like it was bug repellent.

For me at least, your take on the next four years is right on point. If anything good happens, it most likely will be only by accident or coincidence. It appears that the only planned policies for Trump’s administration involve cruelty, division, repression, and fear; along with grift and greed for good measure. And for anyone who might comment that such talk is overblown, I would wonder if they have at all listened to what Trump and his minions have said and are saying.

And as for your comment on being in need of games; Go Green and Go Lions

I think my 'favorite' recent Tweet was from a woman who was complaining that she and her mother spent thousands to get to the Inauguration and now they are left with nothing (leaving aside that there are lots of museums, etc to visit in DC even if they can't be at the Inauguration). Someone went back into her Tweet history and found her screaming about the price of eggs. Oh, you can't afford eggs but can afford to go to the Inauguration? Guess it really wasn't about inflation for her after all.

Add that to the famous quote in Trump's first term from a woman who said "he's not hurting the people he needs to be hurting".

Trump's base wants vengeance against the 'other'. That's their political philosophy. And anything else they say is a cover story.

Trump 2.0 is casting a tv show not planning on running the government. He sees someone who looks the part of whatever role he is casting and tries to put that person in charge. Just take a look at the person set to be head of the IRS. No college, no managerial experience, no accounting experience. I’m not sure he finished high school. Not a sin to be sure, but not the stuff to be in charge of the IRS. What can he do? He can and was an auctioneer and a good one. But he does look like he might be a seasoned accountant…until he opens his mouth.

I think Trump is in way over his head this time and the promises he made to his followers and is already reneging on, will have blow back. And his planned attacks on immigrants may be just as disturbing as his treatment of kids and their parents last time. Seeing kids in cages is something I’ll never forget. I don’t think many people will.

People who voted for him, voted for lower cost of consumables. That is not happening. I hope buyers remorse sets in even faster this time around. But there will be some very jarring days ahead until members of congress are forced to stand up to him. I just hope their constituents let their representatives know when they’ve had enough.

I appreciate your point of view and your support of your local involvement. We have to find a middle ground in this country. We stands for the people- sadly, our politicians are not motivated to that position, only their personal advancement.

Case in point, insider trading. We do that, we go to jail.

Go Illini, Go Dawgs and Go Blue Devils!

It's been really hard for me to understand how people I know. love, and respect to fall in line with Trump. After January 6th, some seem to be faltering in their support, but eventually came back around to supporting him. It's depressing.
