Congrats on your half-marathon time. Have a great Vegas trip. I saw U2 twice at Sphere last year and it was great. Also not much of a Vegas guy. This last trip especially made me feel out of place there.
This is my 25th year living in Vegas. The desert agrees with me, health wise, but this town also gets in your blood. If you can enjoy its spoils in moderation, you can live a pleasant life here.
The strip, however, is absolutely ridiculous nowadays. LV corporate greed knows no boundaries. This clip speaks volumes about how things are here now.
Cool you ran another marathon! Love the sound of your boss, David. Passionate, magnetic people like him are rare I think. Great that you prioritized time with your dad. “No one on their deathbed ever says they wished they’d worked more hours."
I was raised in Las Vegas; most of my family still live there. When other people talk about how weird it is, I can’t relate. Slot machines in the grocery store? Totally normal! The Sphere winking at them on the way to work? Nothing to see here.
Las Vegas has always confused me. There's no groundwater. You can't grow food. There's no industrial base to speak of. The Southwest seems fundamentally parasitic and yet it keeps growing. At some point, the music has to stop, right? I feel like we have to keep Buffalo and Cleveland and Detroit going so that there's somewhere for people from Las Vegas and Los Angeles and Phoenix to come back to.
I'll be in Vegas in a couple weeks for the first time in a couple decades (at least) to see U2 with my son (who did not exist when I was last there). I'm assuming that it will tide me over for another couple decades.
That's a solid half-marathon time, Will. As a longtime runner, I love it that you're putting in the miles.
I'm going to make the time to send you a letter soon. But, on a Monday morning as I sip my coffee in Nashville, having just dropped my 15 year old son off at school, I want to let you know how much I enjoy your newsletter. With two sons, a little older than yours, sometimes I feel like we're living parallel lives.
The story about discovering your dad in the casino at 2:30 a.m., and especially his reaction to seeing you, had me busting a gut. So good. My dad plays casinos much like yours.

I am very curious how it feels this week. It has been a few years since I've been there ...
Not much of a Vegas guy either, but after a few trips I've figured out where to stay/what to do/how to make it enjoyable.

Goodness gracious. This makes me glad I'm staying in an AirBnB.
We're here for U2 again tonight. There's really nothing quite like seeing a show at Sphere. Enjoy!
Achtung Baby is an all-timer album for me too, which should be an extra boost to the whole experience.
Are you going to bring out your Fly costume from karaoke for it?

I might say that I wish I had written more books though!

A good reminder to call them, too
I think the Sphere from the outside might weird me out more than the Sphere from the inside.

I can't get my dad to go with me to Detroit, I'll say that.
Should I learn to swim? 😁
I love this song so much!

Thanks for doing what you do. Have a great week!
Thanks for all this, man! I'm very appreciative. I'll keep cranking these things about ... just dropped by 12-year-old off myself!
